Night of the Demons 3 (1997)

Night of the Demons 3 (1997) Directed by Jimmy Kaufman

Amelia Kinkade seems to be having a lewdly good time in this ugly, cheap sequel to Night of the Demons – this may be the worst, most boring party demon Angela has ever thrown at the Hull house – however, unlike Kinkade’s sizzling enthusiasm for reprising her iconic role as Angela, I didn’t have a good time watching this 1990s horror trash at all. Jimmy Kaufman directs this third installment of bawdy ghouls unleashing hell on Halloween night. Kevin Tenney – the director of the original Night of the Demons – writes the derivative script about a group of young troublemakers who end up in a dangerous altercation at a gas station convenience store, one of them apparently murdering a cop, thus the imprudent teens hide out in the spectral Hull House, unaware that they are about to fall prey to the soul-eaters that dwell there. The style is amateurish and the dialogue insufferable, but the pornographic lens that characterized its predecessors is maintained here with apt impudence – Angela gives a “blowjob” to a gun, and the other characters seem consistently comfortable with the continual innuendos of the debauched milieu – yet the carnal comedy on display is more inclined to be imitative than creative, serving no purpose other than to be superfluously tacky. The horrendously primitive CGI of the opening credits alone can already help you predict what a fiasco this film will be; but the stupefyingly abusive redundancy of the Dutch angles Jimmy Kaufman opts for in designing this schlocky softcore horror absurdity is even better indication of the incompetence that surrounds this film.
