-Grindhouse Fest spotlights the cult gems, sleaze classics, and deranged wonders that defined exploitation cinema’s golden run. Proceed with delight and caution-

Directed by Lee Frost

Written by Lee Frost and Wes Bishop

Starring:

  • Rod Perry as General Ahmed
  • Charles P. Robinson as Colonel Kojah
  • Phil Hoover as Vito
  • Ed Cross as Delmay
  • Angela Brent as Marsha
  • Wes Bishop as Ernest

Rating:

An oxymoron so brazen it almost feels like a dare, The Black Gestapo mixes Blaxploitation militancy with Nazisploitation imagery in a way only 1970s grindhouse could attempt. Under the direction of Lee Frost, General Ahmed (Rod Perry) leads a Black “People’s Army” against a vicious white mafia. The ideological contradictions are glaring and often tasteless, especially within the social context of the era. But approached from a distance of ironic disbelief, the film becomes a bizarre carnival of sleaze, violence, and politically confused spectacle.
